Check out the set of literature inspired tees being sold over at Out of Print Clothing! I especially liked the “Lolita”, “A Clockwork Orange”, and “The Master and Margerita” ones! (Source)
Potter fans looking to get themselves ebook copies of all the seven books will probably have to wait for a little while longer as the people behind it reveal that problems at Pottermore have delayed the initial October release. (Source)
Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer has won the 2011 Nobel Prize for Literature — and he’s playing the piano during the event as well. (Source 1, Source 2)
The Guardian has an interview with Maurice Sendak that basically reveals the children’s book author has a way with insults. Here’s a sampling:
“Ebooks: ‘I hate them. It’s like making believe there’s another kind of sex. There isn’t another kind of sex. There isn’t another kind of book! A book is a book is a book.’
Of Salman Rushdie, who once gave him a terrible review in the New York Times, he says: ‘That flaccid fuckhead. He was detestable. I called up the Ayatollah, nobody knows that.’
Gwyneth Paltrow: ‘I can’t stand her.’
Just in case you haven’t had enough of the vampire novels aimed for young adults (YA), Holly Black has announced that she is coming out with a vampire novel titled “The Coldest Girl in Coldtown”. (Source)
Finally, is any one of you interested in perusing a calendar featuring librarians in various states of undress? I don’t know about you guys, but I am down for this. Sexual orientation is mostly indeterminate, so score another point for me! (Source 1, Source 2)
It’s been quite a while since we’ve had one of these around here, huh? Or at least it feels like it’s been quite a while. Mostly this blog has been Tyra Banks this and “Modelland” that. Hopefully, the next few entires will provide little patches of non-Modelland air!
The last time we lest the sassy Starks of Winterfell, the two sisters were quarreling, the Hot Bastard was on his way to a very cold place, and Bran has just woken up from his boo-boo.
In today’s episode, we have: Bitch, bitch everywhere and not a drop to drink! The Cersei Lannister school of inbred parenting! Swordplay!
To those who don’t remember Allison Harvard, she was in Cycle 12 and now competing once again in Cycle 17. She rocks.
Sorry for the delay in posts the past few days. Work has been a little hectic and hasn’t given me a lot of opportunities to update the blogeroo since last Sunday. Anyway, I’m back with more “Modelland”!
The last time we were in Metopia, we were introduced not just to its geography but to Tookie’s weird friend Lizzie, who has a penchant for disappearing for months on end and cutting herself with sharp rocks. Also, the deliciously named Zarpessa Zarionneaux is a dumpster diving liar.
Chapter three is actually titled “Da-tahhhh!” I AM EXCITE.
Back when I still updated my Livejournal, I used to have a regular feature that I called Picspam Thursdays, where I just basically dumped photos on my unsuspecting readers.
Obviously, I’m now taking that here, but limiting it to just one photo per week. And for this debut offering, let me be a little vain douchebag and allow me this little spot of self-promotion. National Book Store is using an article I wrote in their stores! This one I took at the National Book Store in SM San Lazaro, and a while ago I saw another one at the National Book Store at SM Mall of Asia.
Alexander Yates was one of the many wonderful people I met at the craziness that was the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF). The onetime Manila resident was brought back to Manila by National Book Store to promote his debut novel, “Moondogs”, as well as to participate in a forum alongside fellow first time novelist Samantha Sotto.
I know I said the same thing about Lauren Kate and Samantha Sotto, but I can’t help it if the authors I get to interview are really nice people! I’m sure it would make a far juicier story if I said Alexander Yates was mean during the interview, but the meanest thing he probably did was insult Sookie, and Sookie isn’t exactly making it hard for people not to insult her.
Anyway, since my article on him already came out today, I thought it would be great to put up the full transcript of the interview with him. A lot of stuff got cut out of the article because of space constraints, so here’s a chance to read about everything we talked about!
The last time we saw our heroine, Tookie De La Creme, she was rifling through some garbage for the Campaign Pin of Twu Wuv that Xenophilius Lovegood knockoff Theopilius Lovelaces accidentally bestowed upon her when he almost tripped on her prone body.
Or at least, I alluded to that in the previous post. Mostly I was enjoying putting up gifs of drag queens in hair couture. This time, however, I will be…doing more of the same. It depends on how interesting this chapter is.
