Ronreads interview: Lauren Oliver – Part 1

The crowd at Lauren Oliver’s book signing.

She’s touring Australia now, but for a few days last week, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver was in the country stumping for her latest book, “Pandemonium”, the sequel to “Delirium”.

While her visit was short and sweet, Lauren Oliver was still able to squeeze in some time for an interview with yours truly, other media outlets, as well as with Ms. Xandra Ramos Padilla of National Book Store.

While I had my own time to interview Lauren, I also attended her interview with Ms. Xandra Ramos Padilla. For those who weren’t able to make it that day, I’m posting the full transcript of that interview under the cut. Tomorrow, I’ll put up the complete transcript of the interview I did with her.

Book to Series Recap: Game of Thrones Ep. 3 “Lord Snow”

Or, Reading is Essential

It’s been quite a while since we’ve had one of these around here, huh? Or at least it feels like it’s been quite a while. Mostly this blog has been Tyra Banks this and “Modelland” that. Hopefully, the next few entires will provide little patches of non-Modelland air!

The last time we lest the sassy Starks of Winterfell, the two sisters were quarreling, the Hot Bastard was on his way to a very cold place, and Bran has just woken up from his boo-boo.

In today’s episode, we have: Bitch, bitch everywhere and not a drop to drink! The Cersei Lannister school of inbred parenting! Swordplay!

As usual, NSFW.

Book to Series Recap: Game of Thrones Ep. 2 “The Kingsroad”

Or, Tyrion’s pimp hand is strong

The last time we were at Chateau Stark, Bran had fallen to his apparent death, or at least that’s what those who didn’t read the book thought had happened. You see, people who only watched the series and didn’t even bother looking at the Wikipedia page of the book “Game of Thrones” was based on have some really weird conversations about this whole shebang.

One person, for instance, had this to say about Ned Stark’s demise: “Maganda pa rin kaya ang next season” The lack of punctuation is totally theirs. Yes, maybe I am expecting too much from people, but Jesus. Jesus.

But anyway, let’s move on. In “The Kingsroad”, we have: The Britney Spears and Kevin Federline of the Seven Kingdoms, bitches galore, and Tyrion Lannister’s pimp hand of awesomeness.

As usual, NSFW all around.

Book to Series Recap: Game of Thrones Ep. 1 “Winter is Coming”

Or, When Titties Attack!

Welcome one and all to the first ever Book to Series Recap!

As the title suggests, I will be writing recaps of television series’ episodes. Since my blog is still a book blog, the series has to be one based on a book. My first choice was to do “True Blood”, since it’s currently airing, but I hadn’t read any of  the books and starting now wouldn’t help any since the series finale is airing this Monday.

The next logical choice, of course, was “Game of Thrones”. Not only had I just finished reading the book it’s based on, it just received a boatload of Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Peter Dinklage.

In “Winter is Coming” , we have: Fremen, winter edition! Hot bastards! Doggie style! and let’s not forget tits, tits, and tits!

(Warning: So much NSFW material under the cut!)

Book review: George R. R. Martin’s “A Game of Thrones”

“Winter is Coming” by Joel Watson from Hijinks Ensue

So here I am, about a decade and a half late with George R. R. Martin’s epic “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Everyone and their mother’s second cousin twice removed has probably already read and written down their thoughts about these books, and I’m just yet another voice in the chorus.

Nevertheless, I hope you guys indulge me a bit as I give my two cents worth on a book you’ve all probably heard about over and over and over again the past year. I’ll try to be quick about it, I swear! And if for some reason you are even more behind than I am, I promise to have as few spoilers as can be managed.
